The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking a significant milestone in the administration of the state’s educational assessments.

Speaking at the official results presentation, the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Aishatu Nuhu Yarwa, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for his continued support of the education sector. She also commended the Department of Test and Measurement for the timely and successful completion of the examination process.

In her remarks, Hajiya Yarwa congratulated all students and their parents for their efforts and performance in the examination, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to raising the standard and competitiveness of basic education across Niger State.

Presenting the results, the Director of Test and Measurement, Alh. Garba Asab Abdullahi, revealed that the 2025 BECE recorded an 8.2% improvement in the overall pass rate compared to the previous year. In 2024, the pass rate stood at 67.4%, highlighting a steady upward trajectory in academic performance.

Alh. Garba attributed the improved performance to the collective efforts of the state government, education stakeholders, school administrators, teachers, students, and parents. He emphasised that the success reflects a shared commitment to excellence in education.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Niger State Wing, Comrade Akayago Adamu Mohammed, described the conduct of the 2025 BECE as commendable. He lauded the ministry's ongoing reforms and urged continued investment in the welfare of teachers, which he said is crucial for sustaining progress in the state’s educational landscape.
