President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, commending his commitment to peace, security, and development in the troubled North-Western state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Governor Lawal for his leadership and efforts to improve governance in Zamfara, a state that has long grappled with insecurity and underdevelopment.
"President Tinubu commends the Governor for his dedication to the development of Zamfara and his steadfast pursuit of peace and security in the state,” the statement read.
While reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to working closely with state governments across the country, the President assured Governor Lawal of continued support from the centre in his efforts to drive progress and unity in Zamfara.
“Dear Governor Dauda Lawal, on behalf of the government and the people of Nigeria, I wish you good health, strength, and divine wisdom as you continue to serve the people of Zamfara State and the nation," President Tinubu said.
He also encouraged the governor to stay the course in delivering good governance and championing initiatives that promote unity and sustainable development.
Governor Lawal, a former banker and technocrat, was elected in 2023 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeating the incumbent governor in a major electoral upset. His administration has since focused on rebuilding state institutions, combating insecurity, and attracting investment into Zamfara.
The President’s birthday message comes at a time when the federal government is intensifying collaboration with states to tackle insecurity and stimulate local economies, especially in the North-West region.
