In a surprise move, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reversed recent management changes at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), reinstating Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as Director-General and Mr. Ayo Adewuyi as Executive Director of News.
The decision, announced on Tuesday in a statement by Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, nullifies earlier appointments to top positions within the state-owned broadcaster, including a new DG, ED News, ED Marketing, and MD of NTA Enterprises.
Dembos, appointed in October 2023, will now return to complete his original three-year tenure. Adewuyi, who was named ED News in 2024, is also set to complete his term ending in 2027.
The Presidency gave no specific reason for the reversal, but the move is seen as a strategic recalibration of leadership at one of Nigeria’s most critical public communication institutions.
