The Gombe Unity and Development Mandate Forum (GUDMF) has praised President Bola Ahmed for the reappointment of Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as managing director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).
Speaking withJournalists at Chartwell Hotel in Bauchi yesterday, the forum's secretary, Eng. Aliyu Musa Aliyu, described the reappointment as well-deserved and a reflection of his visionary leadership and dedication.
Aliyu noted that Yelwa's first tenure was marked by "Remarkable strides in infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and sustainable initiatives that improved the lives of many across HYPPADEC member states."
He emphasised that under renewed leadership, Yelwa is expected to continue to justify the confidence reposed in him by delivering greater milestones in line with HYPPADEC's mandate.
The GUDMF further highlighted that Yelwa efforts had facilitated the inclusion of Gombe, Nasarawa, and Taraba states in HYPPADEC, while communities around the Dadin Kowa Dam in Gombe have already started benefiting from ongoing projects that are improving their living conditions.
"We remain grateful to President Tinubu and his cabinet for recognizing Yelwa’s capabilities and giving him this renewed opportunity to serve.
"This decision reaffirms the President’s commitment to fostering progress and development in Nigeria’s critical sectors," Aliyu stated.
The Forum also appealed to the Senate to expedite Yelwa's screening and confirmation in the best interest of the benefiting communities.
Aliyu appreciated governors and stakeholders in the HYPPADEC catchment states for supporting Yelwa's reappointment, describing their stance as an act of patriotism.
