Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Christians and promoting religious harmony across the state.
Governor Bago gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the Nupe Kalvari Church, Minna, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Minna.
He commended the Church for its long-standing support since his days as a member of the House of Representatives in 2009 through his political journey to becoming governor.
“Under my watch, every citizen will continue to enjoy the right and freedom to worship. My administration will always support programmes of the Kalvari Church and ensure peaceful coexistence among all faiths,” Bago said.
The governor expressed gratitude to the Christian community for its support and reaffirmed his resolve to promote unity and mutual respect among the state’s diverse religious groups.
Earlier, the General Overseer of the Nupe Kalvari Church, Pastor Emmanuel Sunday Kolo, thanked the governor for his continued support to the Church and the Christian community in Niger State, describing him as “an exemplary leader committed to inclusiveness and development.”
He also commended the governor’s New Niger Agenda, which he said has continued to transform the state through people-centred projects and policies.
Representing the governor at the 2025 Annual Conference of the Nupe Kalvari Church, the Permanent Secretary, Political Affairs (SSG’s Office), James Bake, appreciated the Church’s prayers and partnership, noting that Governor Bago remains committed to religious tolerance and social progress.
At the event, the Church presented the governor with symbolic gifts — including a Holy Bible, a hoe, a hat, and a portrait — to honour him as “the Farmer Governor.”
