The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu 2027 has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as two years of purposeful and progressive governance marked by bold economic reforms, infrastructural expansion, and renewed national confidence.

The National Coordinator of the Movement, Dr Sani Ahmad Zangina, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, applauding the President for steering Nigeria through a complex economic terrain with courage, innovation, and a firm commitment to national renewal.

According to the statement issued by the Movement’s National Secretariat, Tinubu’s administration has recorded “unprecedented strides” in economic stability, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and national security.

The group noted that the President’s economic policies had repositioned Nigeria as a strong and competitive player on the global stage. It cited the clearing of over $10 billion in foreign exchange liabilities as a major confidence booster that helped stabilise the naira.

It added that the nation’s net foreign reserves grew from $3.99 billion in 2023 to $23.11 billion by 2024, while over $50 billion in new foreign direct investment commitments had been secured. Similarly, more than $8 billion in oil and gas investments and $800 million in solid mineral processing were attracted in 2024 alone.

“These milestones are a testament to the President’s strategic vision and unwavering focus on rebuilding Nigeria’s economic foundation,” the statement read.

The Movement further highlighted the administration’s extensive infrastructure drive, with over 440 road projects underway and more than 2,700 kilometres of superhighways under construction nationwide. It also lauded the passage of four new tax bills and the creation of five regional development commissions aimed at fast-tracking growth in neglected areas.

“These projects are not merely physical constructions,” the group noted, “but symbols of a nation on the rise — a Nigeria being rebuilt with purpose and inclusion.”

On youth empowerment, the Movement praised the Presidential Loan and Grant Scheme, which has benefited over 900,000 Nigerians, and the Students’ Loan Scheme that has assisted 300,000 students in accessing tertiary education and entrepreneurship opportunities.

“These initiatives have reignited hope among millions of young Nigerians,” it said, describing them as evidence of Tinubu’s belief in the creativity and resilience of the youth.

The statement also applauded the administration’s efforts to stabilise the economy, citing a 3.84 per cent GDP growth in the last quarter of 2024 — the highest in three years — as proof that the reforms were working.

It welcomed the introduction of a new N70,000 minimum wage, describing it as a bold and compassionate step to cushion the effects of subsidy removal and inflation.

On security, the Movement credited Tinubu for strengthening the military’s capacity through enhanced logistics and intelligence support, leading to the neutralisation of over 13,500 terrorists and improved peace in parts of the North-East and North-West.

“Today, Nigerians are beginning to feel a renewed sense of safety, and our armed forces are once again standing tall in the defence of our sovereignty,” the statement added.

While acknowledging that challenges remain, the group described Tinubu’s two-year performance as “a blueprint for transformative governance,” urging Nigerians to remain supportive as the administration consolidates its gains.

“President Tinubu has proven that with decisive leadership, integrity, and a clear vision, Nigeria can and will reclaim its place as the giant of Africa,” it concluded.
