The Niger State Government has expressed its commitment to enhancing local dairy food production through strategic partnerships with development investors and agricultural experts.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the “Farmer Governor,” led a delegation of investors on an inspection tour of one of the Niger Food Farms, where discussions focused on crossbreeding cattle to improve milk production across the state.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Bago explained that his administration is working closely with development partners to strengthen the livestock sector, particularly in dairy farming. He said the initiative aligns with global best practices and reflects his government’s vision to transform agriculture for the overall prosperity of the people.
“As part of our plans, all cattle in the state will be vaccinated against diseases that could hinder effective dairy production. We are determined to ensure that our livestock industry meets modern standards for productivity and safety,” the Governor stated.
According to him, the visit was also aimed at assessing progress made so far, identifying potential areas for expansion, and aligning with the national policy on food security and sovereignty. Governor Bago reiterated that agriculture remains the backbone of his administration’s agenda, and efforts are ongoing to make Niger State a major food production hub in Nigeria.
