The National President of the Kautal Pulaaku Fulbe Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini Buzaye (Sarkin Fulanin Buzaye), has warned that the association will take legal action against anyone who defames or links the Fulani community with criminality.

Buzaye made this statement during the inauguration of the association’s new national and state leaders held on Sunday at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi. He said that associating Fulani people with crimes such as banditry or kidnapping is a violation of their rights and an insult that will no longer be tolerated.

He explained that the official launch of Kautal Pulaaku as a national body is aimed at promoting the welfare and advancement of the Fulani people across the country. According to him, the organization seeks to sensitize and inspire Fulani youths to reject criminality, embrace modern values, and serve as agents of peace, unity, and security development.

“In every tribe, there are criminals. Everyone knows that there is a tribe linked with Boko Haram, but the entire tribe has never been labeled as such. Linking the Fulani people to criminality is unacceptable. Anyone who writes or publishes defamatory remarks about the Fulani, even on social media, will face the full wrath of the law,” Buzaye stated.

He further called on the government and civil society organizations to stop discriminating against or stigmatizing Fulani people, urging collective efforts toward national peace and development. “Anyone who violates the law should be punished according to the law of our country. We invite the government, NGOs, and citizens to work together toward the socio-economic development of the Fulani and Nigeria at large,” he added.

In his remarks, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi), represented by his deputy, Hon. Auwal Jatau, commended the establishment of the group, describing it as timely. He said the initiative would help mobilize courageous youths to promote peace and unity amid the insecurity challenges facing the nation.

The governor expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated leaders at both national and state levels would remain transparent and work to root out corruption. He pledged the Bauchi State Government’s support for all policies and initiatives that foster national unity, economic growth, and peace.

Buzaye also acknowledged the efforts of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State for creating the Ministry of Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, employing over one hundred Fulani graduates, and appointing more than eighty Fulani individuals into political offices. He also praised the Federal Government and the governments of Bauchi and Niger States for establishing ministries dedicated to livestock and nomadic affairs, describing them as “bridges to alleviate the challenges facing the Fulani community.”

Similarly, Senator Shehu Buba of Bauchi State, who chairs the Senate Committee on Security, urged the association’s leaders to uphold the principles of integrity, discipline, and patriotism. “Your office is not a badge for personal aggrandizement but a public trust. Serve with humility, transparency, and accountability,” he advised.

The event featured the swearing-in of national and state leaders from the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, led by Dr. Girei, Sarkin Fulani Pombina. The occasion was attended by Fulani representatives and communities from different parts of the country.

Buzaye concluded by reaffirming that the mission of Kautal Pulaaku is to unite the Fulani, empower youths and women through education, awareness, Islamic principles, conflict resolution, and political advocacy, and to build a prosperous and peaceful community contributing to Nigeria’s development and global peace.
