Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori, Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, has facilitated the distribution of relief materials to communities recently affected by violent conflict in Rigange, Waduku, and Lakan in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Speaking during the distribution in Rigange, Hon. La’ori commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, for his tireless efforts in restoring peace to the area. He stressed the importance of continuous dialogue and youth engagement as vital pathways to achieving lasting peace and security.

Hon. La’ori explained that the role of a member of parliament goes beyond legislation to include advocacy and support for development and humanitarian interventions. “Like governors or local government chairmen, our ultimate responsibility is to improve the lives of our constituents,” he noted.

He also extended heartfelt condolences to the victims and families who lost loved ones and property during the recent conflict, expressing solidarity with the grieving communities.

Representing the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Giwa Kurus, officer in charge of Adamawa and Taraba States, praised the resilience of the affected residents. He conveyed the sympathies of NEMA’s Director-General, Hajia Zubaida Umar, on behalf of the Federal Government.

"This is not the time for conflict; this is the time for development. The Federal Government stands with you," he said, urging the people to remain calm and hopeful.

Mr. Kurus commended Hon. Kwamoti La’ori for his commitment to his constituents, stating:

“You should appreciate him. Since the conflict broke out, he has persistently reached out to us, advocating for your welfare. It is through his efforts that these relief materials are here today.”

Some community members expressed frustration over past failures in communication between local delegates and government authorities, calling for improved representation moving forward. Nonetheless, they applauded the current efforts, expressing gratitude for the support and renewed sense of peace in the area.

“Please extend our appreciation to Governor Fintiri,” one elder said. “Through his leadership, peace has returned. We pray for his continued success.”

The relief items distributed by NEMA included rice, maize, spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and iodised salt.

Other dignitaries at the event included Hon. Bauna Myandassa, Member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, as well as officials from Lamurde LGA, traditional leaders, and security operatives, who ensured a peaceful and orderly distribution process.
