The lawmaker representing Darazo-Ganjuwa federal constituency of Bauchi State, Hon. Mansur Manu Soro, has awarded full scholarships to 200 indigenes of his constituency to pursue various degree programmes at the newly commissioned National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Soro Study Centre, Bauchi State.
Hon. Soro made the announcement after receiving the screening report for the Mansur Manu Soro (MMS) Scholarship Scheme from the chairman of the screening committee, Comrade Abdulrahman Ibrahim Darazo, yesterday.
According to the report, a total of 200 applicants were selected, comprising 150 candidates for Bachelor's degrees, 49 for Masters degrees, 10 for Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), and one for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). All programmes fall under Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture (STEMA) disciplines.
The lawmaker disclosed that he has directed the scholarship committee to collaborate with the university management to expedite the admission process for all beneficiaries.
"No empowerment is greater than the empowerment through education," Soro emphasised, reaffirming his commitment to promoting access to quality education for the youth of his constituency.
