The Managing Editor of Daily Struggle Newspaper, Ammar Muhammad Rajab, has congratulated Mahdi Garba for emerging Runner-Up in the Best Solutions Journalism Reporting Category at the 2025 Excellence in Journalism Awards organised by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID).
Mahdi received the recognition for
his impactful report titled “Lafiya Sisters Expand Contraceptive Access for
Women in Hard-to-Reach Jigawa Communities,” which documents how trained
volunteers are breaking barriers to healthcare by providing women in remote
areas with essential contraceptive information and services.
In a statement issued on behalf of Daily
Struggle Newspaper, the Managing Editor described Mahdi’s achievement as “a
commendable demonstration of high-quality solutions journalism that goes beyond
highlighting societal challenges to spotlighting the innovative, community-led
responses that are creating real and measurable change.”
