Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding energy access and driving industrial growth across the state through strategic partnerships and targeted investments in the power sector.

The governor made this known in Abuja during a State-by-State Roundtable Engagement organised by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), where the Bauchi State Government formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the agency.

Governor Mohammed said the initiative aligns with his administration’s policy direction to tackle power deficits, particularly in rural and underserved communities. He pledged to ensure diligent implementation of the projects to promote sustainable development and improve the living standards of the people of Bauchi State.

The engagement, themed “Powering the Pearl: Strengthening the Bauchi State Electricity Market for Investment, Inclusive Access, and Industrial Growth,” brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors. Several investors at the event expressed interest in tapping into Bauchi’s emerging energy market.

Accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, and other senior officials, Governor Mohammed reiterated that expanding electricity access remains a top priority for his administration, emphasising that reliable power supply is essential for socio-economic transformation.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Aliyu, commended Governor Mohammed for his visionary leadership and collaboration with the agency to advance rural electrification efforts in the state.

He noted that investors are eager to participate in Bauchi’s power sector while underscoring the importance of effective community engagement to ensure project sustainability.

The event also featured technical presentations by senior REA officials, including Doris Uboh, Executive of the Rural Electrification Fund; Engr. Umar A. Umar, Executive Director, Technical Services; Engr. Olufemi Akinyelure, Head of the Project Management Unit; Ayode Gboyega, Executive Director, Corporate Services; and Mohammed Jibril, Technical Adviser to the MD.

Their presentations showcased various investment opportunities available in Bauchi State to promote renewable energy and rural electrification initiatives.

Delivering a presentation on behalf of the state government, the SSG, Aminu Hammayo, provided an overview of Bauchi’s renewable energy investment landscape. He highlighted the state’s enabling environment for investors and reaffirmed the government’s determination to strengthen electricity infrastructure as a driver of sustainable economic growth.
