The Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a monitoring team for the JIGAWAUNITE Project, a major initiative aimed at improving educational outcomes across the state. Speaking at the ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Bala Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of the team and noted the significant financial commitment made by Governor Umar Namadi to the programme.
He explained that members of the team were selected based on merit, personal integrity and professional competence, adding that the group consists of seasoned educationists whose collective expertise will be vital to achieving the project’s objectives. According to him, the major responsibilities of the Monitoring Team include evaluating academic performance in participating schools and assessing the level of engagement and ownership of the project by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). He said the team will also provide regular updates and insights to Governor Namadi and other stakeholders.
Mr. Ibrahim further outlined the team’s terms of reference, which include developing a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plan, conducting classroom observations and submitting monthly and quarterly reports to document achievements and lessons learned. He emphasized that the initiative will strengthen data-driven policymaking geared toward improving the quality of education across Jigawa State.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Chairman and Director-General of the Jigawa State Quality Assurance Agency, Dr. Yau Ahmad Sara, thanked Governor Umar Namadi for the opportunity to serve. He assured that the team would work diligently to justify the confidence placed in them.
The monitoring team comprises senior officials from SUBEB, the Ministry for Basic Education, the Jigawa State Bureau of Statistics, the ICT and Digital Economy Directorate, and the Jigawa State Quality Assurance Agency, as well as representatives from NewGlobe, UNICEF, PLANE, and the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC).
