Now that America is threatening to invade Nigeria in the name of “saving Christians from genocide,” every thinking Nigerian must pause and ask: What exactly is America up to? Is this about protecting lives or protecting interests? Is it about faith or about oil, gold, and geopolitical dominance? History answers these questions loudly, written in the ashes of nations that once trusted America’s promises of liberation: Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria. Each was told they were being “saved,” and each was left bleeding in ruins.
The truth is as clear as daylight: America never intervenes without interest. Their military might moves only when there is something to gain; minerals to seize, governments to manipulate, or nations to weaken. Nigeria, rich in resources and strategic influence, has become their next target on the global chessboard. Yet, they cannot invade openly; they must first create confusion, sow division, and disguise their ambition under the moral cloak of humanitarianism. That is why they amplify tales of “Christian genocide,” painting a complex social reality as a holy war. Their propaganda machine must turn Nigerians against themselves; Muslim against Christian, North against South, so that when the invaders arrive, they appear as rescuers, not conquerors.
But we know the script. We have seen this movie too many times. Wherever America lands its “saving feet,” peace flees.
Afghanistan still mourns. Iraq still burns. Libya, once prosperous, lies shattered beyond repair. And now, under the same banner of “freedom,” the same empire turns its gaze to Nigeria. It is not the Cross they serve, but the dollar; not the Gospel they preach, but greed; not salvation they bring, but subjugation.
The hour calls for awakening, for unity among Muslims and Christians alike. Muslims must first heal their own divisions. The Sunni, the Shi’a, and the Sufi must recognize that disunity and quarrels are the cracks through which foreign powers crawl. The Qur’an warns: “Do not be divided, lest you fail and your power depart.” Likewise, Christians who follow the true teachings of Christ must see through the hypocrisy of those who use His name to wage imperial wars. Both faiths, when purified of manipulation, stand on the same moral ground of justice, peace, and the defense of human dignity.
Nigeria’s destiny cannot be protected by foreign soldiers. It must be guarded by the conscience of her own people. Every mosque and every church should echo the same call: no foreign boots, no foreign bombs, no foreign lies. What we need is not American “protection” but Nigerian unity; not imported morality but national integrity; not intervention but introspection.
If we fall for this deception, our rivers will once again run with tears, not of Christians or Muslims alone, but of Nigerians betrayed by their own divisions. But if we awaken and unite, Nigeria can defy the pattern that has destroyed nations before us. We can become not another victim of America’s empire, but the example that ended it.
Let it be said loud and clear: Nigeria will not be another Iraq. Nigeria will not be another Libya. Nigeria will stand united, awake, and free.
