Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved the release of over ₦500 million for the purchase and distribution of Christmas food items to Christian communities across the state.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Christmas Gifts Distribution, Mr. Abdon Dalla-Gin, announced this at a media briefing in Bauchi.
He said the funds were used to procure 171 bulls, 222 rams, 3,462 bags of 50kg rice and 504 cartons of 25-litre groundnut oil for beneficiaries across the state.
According to him, the items will be distributed to the five blocs of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), senior Christian leaders, religious bodies, and less-privileged groups.
Mr. Dalla-Gin added that the state government has also commenced payment of December salaries, alongside other support measures for Christian residents as part of the festive season.
He commended Governor Mohammed for the gesture, describing it as inclusive governance, and assured that Christian communities would continue to support the administration.
