The Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, disowned a statement circulating in the public space in which he was alleged to have responded to recent allegations made against him.
The clarification was contained in a statement personally signed by Engr. Ahmed, in which he stated categorically that the purported response did not emanate from him and should be disregarded.
According to him, while he is aware of what he described as “wild and spurious allegations” directed at him and members of his family, he has deliberately refrained from engaging in public exchanges on the matter.
He explained that his decision was informed by his position as a regulator in a sensitive sector of the economy, noting that public rebuttals could undermine the integrity of the regulatory process.
The NMDPRA chief further disclosed that the individual behind the allegations has since taken the matter to a formal investigative institution, a development he welcomed.
Ahmed expressed confidence that the investigative process would objectively examine the issues raised and ultimately clear his name.
