Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has visited the first batch of newly recruited forest guard trainees in the state.
The trainees were drawn from all 25 local government areas of the state.
The visit provided an opportunity for the governor to interact with the recruits and boost their morale. He congratulated them and urged them to remain disciplined and resilient, assuring them of the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure their welfare.
Governor Bago also disclosed that more people would be recruited and trained in batches to help secure communities across the state.
The Forest Guard initiative is a strategic move by the Federal Government, in collaboration with state governments, to create a permanent, armed, community-based security structure aimed at reclaiming Nigeria’s forest reserves from criminal elements and protecting the environment.
