Over 500 Christians in Kaduna State have benefited from Christmas palliatives distributed by the Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas Foundation, an initiative of Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The distribution exercise was aimed at supporting Christian brothers and sisters, particularly the less privileged and vulnerable, to enable them celebrate the Christmas festive period with ease.
Speaking during the event, Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas said the gesture was designed to promote unity, brotherhood and tolerance among residents of Kaduna State, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation. She noted that extending support to the Christian community during the festive season would further strengthen inclusiveness and a sense of belonging.
She explained that the foundation has consistently intervened in humanitarian causes, including the provision of free healthcare services, scholarships, educational support, vocational training—especially for women—as well as food and financial assistance during major festive periods.
According to her, the foundation places special priority on Sallah and Christmas celebrations to ensure families are able to enjoy the festivities in a dignified manner.
Hajiya Abbas stressed that her passion for alleviating poverty and empowering vulnerable individuals remains the driving force behind her commitment to doing more for the overall welfare and development of society.
Items distributed during the Christmas outreach included foodstuffs, meat, cash, and solar facilities, among others, valued at millions of naira.
Some of the beneficiaries, including the Zaria Zonal Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Chief John Jatau Garkuwan Bajju, Reverend Father Kiletus Dawiya, and Ladi Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the gesture.
They prayed for God’s blessings upon Hajiya Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas and her husband, Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen, and wished them success in their endeavours.
