The First Lady of Zamfara State, Her Excellency Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has commended the philanthropic efforts of Prince Onyeka Okeke, Founder of the Prince Okeke Foundation, for empowering 500 youths across the state in support of the development agenda of Governor Dauda Lawal.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by Rabi Yusuf, Press Secretary, Office of the First Lady, Zamfara State.

According to the statement, the First Lady, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation, Hajiya Hadiza Mai H., described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that it aligns with the administration’s vision of youth empowerment, economic self-reliance, and inclusive development.

Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal stated that empowering young people with skills, tools, and opportunities is a critical step toward reducing unemployment, discouraging social vices, and building a productive society.
She praised Prince Onyeka Okeke for complementing government efforts through meaningful private-sector intervention and encouraged other well-meaning individuals, organisations, and foundations to emulate the gesture by investing in programmes that uplift youths and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The First Lady further reaffirmed the Zamfara State Government’s commitment, under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, to creating an enabling environment for partnerships that support human capital development and improve the welfare of citizens.

She also wished the beneficiaries success and urged them to make productive use of the opportunities provided in order to contribute positively to the growth and development of Zamfara State.

Items distributed during the empowerment programme included foodstuffs donated to orphanage homes, grinding machines, Point-of-Sale (POS) machines with ₦50,000 cash support each as start-up capital, equipment for tea business, rice cake (masa) production, soybean cheese (wara) production, and shoe-shining businesses.
