Mewar International University, Masaka, Nasarawa State, on Friday, February 6, 2026, concluded activities marking the 4th edition of its Cultural Week with a grand cultural display and an energetic colour fest that brought together students, staff and invited performers in a celebration of unity, creativity and cultural identity.

The climax followed a colourful cultural display held earlier during the week, where students from various ethnic groups showcased Nigeria’s diverse traditions through dance, music and traditional attire.

During the cultural display, students representing the Shuwa Arab, Gbagyi, Hausa, Fulani, South-South, Yoruba, Kanuri and other tribes earlier featured in the week’s activities appeared in batches, each group taking turns to perform traditional dances, dramatise cultural practices and exhibit indigenous costumes. The performances continued seamlessly until the final tribe took the stage, drawing sustained applause from the audience.

It was during this cultural presentation that the Dean, Student Affairs, on behalf of the university community, presented a Distinguished Service Award to the Proprietor and Pro-Chancellor of Mewar International University, Engr. Abubakar Sani Bello, in recognition of his leadership and unwavering support for the success of the 2026 Cultural Week.

The citation on the award read: “In appreciation of your exceptional guidance, institutional support, and vital role in the success of the 2026 Cultural Week. Thank you for your steadfast commitment to the MIU community.”

Members of the university management, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olabode Agunbiade, alongside teaching and non-teaching staff and students, witnessed the award presentation.

Colour Fest Marks Grand Finale

The Cultural Week officially came to an end on Friday, February 6, with a lively colour fest, where students converged to celebrate, covering themselves in colour as music filled the campus atmosphere.

The highlight of the finale was a performance by students and staff from the Theatre and Performing Arts Department of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, whose artistic display added excitement and professional flair to the event.

Students and staff of Mewar International University participated enthusiastically, turning the campus into a vibrant blend of colours, music and celebration.

“He Is a Good Human Being” — Students

While interacting with Daily Struggle correspondent during the event, several students expressed appreciation to the Proprietor and Pro-Chancellor for his continuous support throughout the Cultural Week.

“He is a good human being. We really appreciate his support and vital role throughout the Cultural Week,” a student said.

The conclusion of the Cultural Week marked not only the end of a series of cultural activities but also reinforced the university’s commitment to promoting cultural understanding, unity and student engagement beyond the classroom.

The celebrations form part of events leading up to the university’s matriculation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026.
