The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, has resigned from his position to pursue his governorship ambition ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by Umar Alkali Jibril, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in the Office of the Minister of Transportation.
His resignation, formally submitted to the Presidency, is in compliance with a recent directive mandating all political appointees seeking elective offices to step down from their current roles.
In his resignation letter, Senator Alkali expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve, highlighting what he described as notable progress recorded in the transportation sector during his tenure.
The President has since accepted the resignation and commended the outgoing minister for his dedicated service to the nation.
