The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling insecurity in Zamfara State and other troubled parts of the North-West region.

Vice President Kashim Shettima made this known on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) grand reception held in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, to welcome Governor Dauda Lawal into the party.
Shettima expressed optimism that Governor Lawal’s defection to the APC would bring progress and development to Zamfara State and the country at large.

He also pledged to promote unity among APC members in the state, while taking a swipe at opposition parties, declaring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is no longer relevant and that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has no political foothold in Zamfara.
In his remarks, Governor Dauda Lawal assured party members of unity within the APC, stressing that there are no divisions among its members.

He further pledged to sustain and expand ongoing developmental and welfare projects for the people of the state.
Former Zamfara State governors, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, also spoke at the event, expressing gratitude for Governor Lawal’s return to the APC.

They declared their support for the governor and affirmed that he remains the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.
