Mohammed Umaru Bago has inspected the Minna–Suleja Road following the recent approval by Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the completion of the 71-kilometre road project.
The governor carried out the inspection alongside the Director of Highways, Bridges and Road Designs at the Federal Ministry of Works, Musa Sa’idu, and the Director of Highway Construction and Rehabilitation, Clement Ogbuagu.
During the tour, Governor Bago assessed critical sections of the road where construction work is expected to begin and held discussions with officials of the contracting firms handling the project on strategies to ensure timely and quality completion.
The governor also inspected the Dikko–Maje Road, which has remained in a dilapidated condition for years, and appealed to the Federal Government to consider it for reconstruction because of its strategic economic importance. He noted that the design for the road project has already been completed.
Governor Bago used the opportunity to commend President Tinubu and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for their continued support toward infrastructure development in Niger State.
In their separate remarks, Engr. Musa Sa’idu and Engr. Clement Ogbuagu assured that work on the Minna–Suleja Road would commence before the onset of the rainy season. They also disclosed that the seven-kilometre Maje–Dikko road project would soon be awarded.
Members of the governor’s entourage during the inspection included the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman; the member representing Suleja/Gurara/Tafa Federal Constituency, Adamu Tanko Lokoja; and the Chairman of Suleja Local Government Council, Isyaku Bawa Naibi, among other government officials and stakeholders.
