The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Niger State chapter, has distanced itself from what it described as illegal groupings and unauthorized congresses being conducted in the name of the party.

In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Alhaji Musa Hassan, the party leadership said it had received reports of certain individuals and groups organising and parading unlawful congresses under the ADC identity in the state.

The chairman described the actions as unlawful and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, create confusion, and incite crisis within the party structure.

According to the statement, the State Working Committee declared unequivocally that such “grouping congresses” are illegal, unconstitutional, and have no effect whatsoever. He added that those behind the activities are impostors who lack the authority, recognition, and legitimacy to act on behalf of the party.

The statement further noted that the actions amount to a violation of established guidelines by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as a disregard for existing legal processes and judicial authority. It warned that such conduct poses a serious threat to internal party order and democratic principles.

The ADC Niger State chapter said it has disassociated itself from any illegal grouping or congress conducted outside the recognised party structure and directed all members to disregard and refrain from participating in such unauthorized activities. It also warned those involved to cease and desist from acts of impersonation and anti-party conduct, while calling on security agencies to enforce compliance with the law and prevent any breakdown of peace.

The party reiterated that only congresses conducted in line with its constitution, INEC guidelines, and the rule of law would be recognised. It reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, unity, and the protection of its constitutional processes, urging members to remain steadfast and not be misled by what it described as desperate elements seeking to destabilise the party.
