The Kaduna Integrity Group (KIG) has criticised a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, describing its recent press conference as “a desperate exercise in political theatrics” and “a gathering of a fractured house speaking with no authority.”

In a strongly worded statement signed by Comrade Abdulrazaq Musa and Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, the group said the press briefing—reportedly led by Prof. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau)—lacked coherence, credibility, and legitimacy. It described the outing as the product of “a party in disarray” and referred to Prof. Maina as “a political orphan grasping for relevance.”

“Which ADC is speaking?” the group queried. “A party divided into factions, with parallel secretariats across Kaduna, cannot suddenly present itself as the moral voice of democracy.”

KIG said it was misplaced for the faction to resort to a press conference instead of pursuing internal reconciliation, adding that the development reflects “a political structure already in open collapse.”

Reacting to criticisms directed at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the group described them as “constitutionally ignorant and politically selective.” It maintained that the legislature acted within its oversight powers, noting that similar constitutional provisions were exercised during the tenure of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

“What was lawful yesterday cannot become unlawful today simply because the political winds have shifted,” the statement said, adding that attempts to portray legitimate oversight as persecution amount to “political mischief.”

The group also rejected attempts to involve anti-corruption agencies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Department of State Services (DSS), describing the move as a “manufactured grievance.”

“These institutions are established by law to act on credible evidence—not to be weaponised by politicians seeking sympathy,” the statement added, urging that genuine concerns should be pursued through the courts rather than the media.

On issues relating to the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) and urban enforcement, the group described the ADC’s claims as “exaggerated and demonstrably false.” It argued that the administration of Governor Uba Sani has adopted a more restrained and restitution-driven approach, including the return of illegally seized properties to rightful owners and the payment of compensation in affected cases.

The group contrasted this with what it described as “ruthless demolitions” carried out by previous administrations, which it said affected prominent individuals, including Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and the late Senator Inuwa Abdulkadir.

“Today, the approach is different—more humane, more balanced, and more responsive to the rights of citizens,” KIG stated, noting that affected persons are now being compensated or provided with redress in many instances.

It added that the current administration has demonstrated “discipline, restraint, and a deliberate commitment to correcting past excesses,” rather than repeating them.

The group concluded that the faction’s press conference was “less about democracy and more about desperation,” accusing it of attempting to play the victim in the absence of political relevance.

“If the Kaduna ADC is serious about being taken seriously, it must first resolve its internal crisis,” the statement said. “Until then, such press conferences remain nothing more than noise—loud, emotional, and politically empty.”
