Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated the Niger State Pilgrims' Welfare Board on emerging as the best-performing state in discipline and conduct at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) 2026 Hajj Review and Reform Summit.

In a congratulatory message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the achievement as highly commendable and a source of pride for the state.

The governor commended the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims' Welfare Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, and his management team for their dedication, commitment, and outstanding service in ensuring a successful 2026 Hajj operation.

He said the recognition by NAHCON reflects the Board's resilience, professionalism, and hard work in delivering a seamless and hitch-free Hajj exercise for pilgrims from Niger State.

Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration's commitment to working closely with the Pilgrims' Welfare Board and providing it with the necessary support to enhance its performance and sustain excellence in future Hajj operations.

He also applauded the exemplary conduct of pilgrims from Niger State during their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that their discipline and good behaviour contributed significantly to the recognition received by the state. He described the pilgrims as worthy ambassadors of Niger State.

The award, presented to the Niger State Pilgrims' Welfare Board at the NAHCON Stakeholders' Summit on the 2026 Hajj Review and Reform Agenda, recognises the Board's strict adherence to operational guidelines, the exemplary conduct of its pilgrims, and its effective welfare management throughout the Hajj exercise.

The Board was also commended for its seamless collaboration with NAHCON, the Saudi Arabian authorities, and other partner agencies during the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj.
