Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed profound grief over the death of elder statesman, educationist, and former Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza, who died in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of his family, the Government, and the people of Bauchi State, the governor described the late Hamza as a distinguished public servant whose life was marked by integrity, humility, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of education.
Until his death, Alhaji Hamza served as the Governor's Special Adviser on Higher Education, where he brought his wealth of experience, wisdom, and dedication to the development of the education sector in Bauchi State.
Governor Mohammed noted that the deceased made invaluable contributions to the growth and transformation of education in both the former Bauchi State and the present-day Bauchi State, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
He also recalled the late elder statesman's exemplary service in various public offices, particularly as Commissioner for Religious Affairs and later as Special Adviser on Higher Education, saying his sound counsel, deep knowledge, and commitment to public service significantly enriched government policies and programmes.
"Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza was a committed patriot, a respected educationist, a mentor to many, and a bridge-builder whose contributions to the educational and moral development of our society will remain indelible. His death is a painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Government and people of Bauchi State, and indeed the nation," the governor said.
Governor Mohammed prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends, associates, and the people of Bauchi State the strength to bear the loss.
He also extended the condolences of the Bauchi State Government to the bereaved family and all those touched by the late Hamza's remarkable service and enduring legacy.
