Millions of grieving Iranians gathered in long, shoulder-to-shoulder rows to offer funeral prayers for Martyr Sayyid Ali Khamenei and his family at Tehran's Grand Mosalla.

The funeral prayers were held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and were led by the senior Islamic scholar, Ayatollah Ja'afar Subhani, before a vast congregation comprising mourners from across Iran, alongside foreign dignitaries and guests.

Reports indicated that millions participated in the ceremony, offering prayers and paying their final respects to the late leader in an atmosphere of profound grief.

According to Iranian authorities, Sayyid Ali Khamenei was martyred in an attack on his residence in Tehran on February 28, 2026. Iranian officials said the attack was carried out by the United States and Israel.

Funeral ceremonies are expected to continue in several cities across Iran and Iraq before his burial at the Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in the holy city of Mashhad.
