Operatives of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) have arrested a suspected armed criminal and recovered two locally fabricated firearms during a routine patrol in Kaduna State.

The Commander of KADVS, CP Ali D. Audu, psc (Rtd), disclosed this in a statement issued by the Service's Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim.

According to the statement, the operation forms part of the Kaduna State Government's ongoing security efforts under Governor Uba Sani's SUSTAIN Agenda, which prioritises the protection of lives and property across the state.

The Commander identified the suspect as Samson Ayuba, a native of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. He said the suspect was apprehended by KADVS operatives during a routine patrol, while a subsequent search led to the recovery of a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated pistol, a mobile phone, a power bank, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

CP Audu said the suspect and all recovered exhibits have been handed over to Operation Fushin Kada for further investigation and possible prosecution, in line with the state's security framework.

He noted that the recovery of locally fabricated firearms highlights the evolving nature of criminal activities and underscores the need for sustained collaboration among security agencies.

"KADVS remains committed to complementing the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, the Armed Forces, and other security agencies in combating crime, protecting critical infrastructure, and maintaining public peace," he said.

The Service also commended Governor Uba Sani for his strategic investment in strengthening the state's security architecture, noting that the support has significantly enhanced the operational capacity of security agencies to respond effectively to emerging security threats.

KADVS further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements, or activities capable of threatening public safety.
