The Game Changer Group (TGCG) has pledged to mobilise widespread support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the next general election.
The Niger State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Umar Abdullahi Gwandu Wushishi, made the pledge during the inauguration of the organisation's state executive in Niger State.
According to him, the group was established to sensitise Nigerians to the achievements of the APC-led administrations at the federal, state, and local government levels, particularly under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Mohammed Bago of Niger State.
Hon. Gwandu said the policies and programmes of the APC governments are aimed at transforming the country and improving the lives of Nigerians, adding that members of the group have a responsibility to enlighten the electorate on the developmental strides recorded by the party.
"We believe it is our responsibility to educate the voting public on the achievements of the APC-led governments and why they deserve another opportunity to continue their developmental agenda," he said.
He explained that the organisation carefully selected individuals from different sectors, including security, public service, politics, and other professional fields, to contribute their experience towards promoting good governance and national development.
According to him, the group also appointed Governor Umar Mohammed Bago and Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene as patrons in recognition of their leadership qualities and commitment to progressive governance.
Hon. Gwandu commended Governor Bago for his infrastructural development across Niger State, describing his administration's achievements as landmark projects that would stand the test of time.
"We are satisfied with the governor's developmental agenda and his vision of building a New Niger. These achievements have strengthened our resolve to support the continuity of APC's developmental programmes," he added.
Speaking at the event, the State Women Leader of TGCG, Hajiya Rukayyah I. Bature Kontagora, commended Governor Bago for creating opportunities for women in governance.
She noted that women played significant roles during previous elections but had not always received adequate recognition. She expressed optimism that the present administration would give greater attention to women's inclusion in governance through recommendations from the group.
Hajiya Rukayyah also urged women to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that active participation in the electoral process would strengthen democracy and enable them to support the APC in future elections.
Responding to questions from journalists, Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene (Hasken Wushishi) described politics as a continuous struggle that requires patience, commitment, and constructive engagement.
He commended the organisers for establishing The Game Changer Group, describing the initiative as timely and capable of strengthening the APC across the country.
"This is not just a Niger State project; it is a nationwide movement aimed at mobilising support for the APC and promoting good governance," he said.
On the political differences among APC stakeholders in Niger State, Lafene said divergent opinions within a political party are not unusual, noting that such differences often reflect a healthy democratic process rather than a sign of failure.
He assured party members that efforts would be made to ensure those who contribute to the party's success are recognised and rewarded appropriately if the APC retains power in the next election.
According to him, rewarding loyal party members and grassroots mobilisers would encourage greater commitment and reduce grievances within the party.
Lafene appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, expressing confidence that the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would, in the long run, deliver sustainable economic growth and national development.
