The Zamfara State Ministry of Budget and Planning has convened a one-day stakeholders' engagement on nutrition action mapping to strengthen coordination and enhance the implementation of nutrition interventions across the state. The meeting was held at Jaiz International Hotel, Gusau.
Declaring the meeting open, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Wamban Bukkuyum, emphasised the importance of collaboration among government institutions, development partners, and other stakeholders in tackling malnutrition. He called for sustained commitment to the implementation of effective nutrition programmes aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of women and children across the state.
Delivering a presentation, the State Project Coordinator of the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRIN 2.0) Project, Hajiya Safiya Ibrahim, provided an overview of the initiative. She explained that ANRIN 2.0 is designed to expand access to quality nutrition services, reduce the burden of malnutrition, and support the state's efforts to achieve better health outcomes through coordinated interventions.
Earlier, the Budget Component Lead of the ANRIN 2.0 Project, Malam Sufiyanu Sambo, delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the engagement. He said the meeting was convened to map ongoing nutrition interventions, identify implementation gaps, strengthen collaboration among partners, and develop a coordinated framework for the effective delivery of nutrition programmes in Zamfara State.
The meeting brought together representatives of development partners, relevant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), as well as other key stakeholders in the nutrition sector. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the ANRIN 2.0 Project and advancing nutrition outcomes across Zamfara State.
