The Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has felicitated with Nigerians and the people of Zamfara State on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the creation of Zamfara State.

She described the twin celebrations as important milestones that call for gratitude, reflection and renewed commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and united society.

In a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Office of the First Lady, Zamfara State, Rabi Yusuf, Hajiya Huriyya urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Zamfara, to continue playing their individual and collective roles in strengthening the nation.

She said the progress of any society depended on the contributions, sacrifices and shared responsibility of its citizens, noting that Nigeria’s journey since independence had been characterised by challenges as well as resilience.

According to her, the anniversary provides an opportunity for citizens to renew their faith in the country and remain committed to its growth and development.

“Independence is not only a celebration of our past, but also a reminder of our responsibility to the generations yet unborn. Every Nigerian has a role to play in building the country we desire, and every sacrifice made in the service of our nation will never be in vain,” she said.

The First Lady also congratulated the people of Zamfara State on 30 years of statehood, describing the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the state’s journey and look forward with renewed hope.

She acknowledged what she described as meaningful progress recorded under the administration of her husband, Governor Dauda Lawal, particularly in education, healthcare, infrastructure, human capital development and social welfare.

Hajiya Huriyya said the administration’s reforms and interventions across the sectors had laid a foundation for sustainable development and contributed to improving the wellbeing of residents.

She, however, said more needed to be done, expressing confidence that further initiatives would be implemented, particularly in economic empowerment and other areas directly affecting the lives of the people.

“What we are seeing today is only the beginning. There is still much more to be done. With sustained commitment, responsible governance and the continued support and prayers of our people, Zamfara will achieve even greater milestones in the years ahead,” she said.

The First Lady also called for continued peace, unity and mutual understanding among the people of Zamfara, stressing that meaningful development could only thrive in an atmosphere of security and collective responsibility.

She prayed for the continued protection of Nigeria and for divine guidance for the country’s leaders, while seeking lasting peace, security, prosperity and development for Zamfara State.

Hajiya Huriyya wished Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary and the people of Zamfara State a happy 30th anniversary, while expressing optimism for a brighter, more peaceful and prosperous future.
