Speaker House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, says the 10th Assembly will soon revisit the traditional institutions' bill for deliberation and its speed passage.
Dr. Tajuddeen Abbas stated this when he led the leadership and members of the house on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau at his palace in Zaria.
Dr Abbas Tajuddeen emphasized the contributions of traditional institutions in addressing the lingering problems bedeviling the country, and that they deserved to be recognized in the nation’s constitution.
Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen explained that the 10th Assembly would run an open-door policy for every Nigerian to have the opportunity of making an input on issues that affect his life as a citizen and the development of the country.
He appreciated the support of Zazzau Emirate, religious institutions, and the entire people of Zaria for their total support and prayers which avail him the opportunity to continue to serve as lawmaker and subsequently the Speaker of the 10 Assembly.
In a remark, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, advocated for speedy passage of the bill to allow traditional institutions to have constitutional backing in the discharge of their responsibilities as community leaders.
Malam Ahmad Bamalli, however, advised political officeholders to desist from abandoning their constituencies and also join hands with those who lost at the 2023 polls to bring programmes that would improve the lives of people at the grassroots.
Daily Struggle Newspaper reports that hundreds of political supporters, well wishers, relatives and other members of Zaria city and it’s environs received the speaker and his entourage during the visit.
Among those who commended the visit were the Director-General of NITT Zaria, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, who said the Speaker's visit is very important to the people of Zaria and Kaduna state as a whole.
Bayero prayed for the success and protection of the speaker in all his activities.
