The Head of the Economic Department of Federal University Gusau (FUG), Dr. Mustapha Kanoma blames IPPIS's other administrative bottleneck for the brain drain in the university and calls for recruitment.

Kanoma disclosed in an interview with newsmen in Gusau, adding that the last time that the university had a recruitment was in 2019 and many lecturers had left for other engagements due to poor packages among other reasons.

He said lecturers were overloaded as one can teach between three and four courses against two per head.

Adding that the university was constrained by the administrative bottleneck surrounding the recruitment exercise in the country, the university had to secure approval from so many different bodies of the federal government and the national assembly before a single appointment.

He said currently the economic department has only twelve lecturers, and five out of them were on study leave, the seven were to manage the whole department, and now that post-graduate school come up the same people would handle academic activities.

While calling on the government to embark on massive recruitment, he equally appeals for the improvement of the Lecturer's welfare to control the rate of exit from the university.
