The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has begun the sale of nomination forms to interested aspirants for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
This development follows the release of the guidelines for the conduct of local government elections in the state by the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) on Thursday.
The state party chairman, Barr. A.T. Shehu, made the disclosure during a press briefing on the party's arrangements for the forthcoming local government elections at the party secretariat in Yola.
The state PDP chairman also announced a 50% discount on nomination forms for people with special needs and assured credible and impartial conduct of the party primary elections as the party begins sales of forms to interested aspirants.
In line with the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission timetable, the PDP has scheduled the sale of forms for the positions of Chairmanship and Councillorship from June 7th to 12th. The sale of Adhoc delegate forms is slated for June 10th, and the submission of completed forms will be on June 13th and 14th.
Similarly, the screening of aspirants will take place on June 15th and 16th. The nomination of three Adhoc delegates by the Party Congress will be on June 17th, while the display of screened aspirants will be on June 19th.
Furthermore, appeals hearings will be on June 20th. The Councillorship primary election will take place on June 21st, while the Chairmanship primary will be on June 22nd. Any appeals from the primary elections will be heard on June 23rd.
Barrister A.T. Shehu also revealed the cost of the Chairmanship form at N9 million, the expression of interest form will cost N100,000, and the Councillorship form will cost N100,000, with the expression of interest form costing N20,000.
