Troops from Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) have neutralized five bandits in the Dantarau area of Kajuru LGA, Kaduna State.
This was disclosed by Samuel Aruwan, the state's Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a statement issued on Sunday after the troops provided operational feedback to the state government.
He stated that the troops engaged the bandits in the Dantarau community, leading to the elimination of five criminals.
According to him, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, AK-47 magazines, motorcycles, and handheld radio sets from the bandits. He also mentioned that the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeted bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji general area of Igabi LGA, successfully striking them. Aruwan further reported that credible intelligence sources confirmed the operation's success, with several bandits eliminated and some injured, seeking medical support in the area.
The governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed satisfaction at this achievement and commended the troops, led by Major General MLD Saraso, for their dedicated efforts.
Governor Sani encouraged the military to maintain the momentum of operations in combating banditry in the state.
