Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has charged newly inducted Forest Guard personnel to uphold human rights and maintain professionalism as they embark on their security duties in the state.
The Governor gave the charge during their passing-out parade held at the Police Training School in Yelwa, Bauchi Local Government Area.
He was represented at the event by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Jatau.
In his welcome address, the Governor expressed delight at the successful completion of the two-week intensive training programme and welcomed all representatives of security agencies present at the occasion.
He described the initiative as an important step in strengthening peacebuilding efforts in the state, noting that it symbolizes discipline, integrity, and commitment to security service. He urged the graduands to serve as worthy ambassadors in all their engagements.
Governor Mohammed further emphasized the importance of adhering to rules of engagement in order to achieve the objectives for which the Forest Guard Corps was established. He warned that the government would not tolerate any form of unlawful conduct, while urging the personnel to remain committed to environmental sustainability and the security of the state.
In a related development, the Commander-General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, Umar Aliyu Shayi, commended the governor for his commitment to strengthening local security outfits, describing it as a key step toward ensuring safety across Bauchi State.
Shayi urged the newly inducted personnel to remain dedicated and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.
He also appreciated the collaboration between formal security agencies and local security structures in the state, reaffirming the Vigilante Agency’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace, and protecting lives and property across Bauchi State.
