The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has begun training 15 selected teachers from ten public schools in Bauchi to equip them with the necessary techniques and skills required for ICT teaching in the digital age.
Speaking to newsmen at the venue of the training, Anguwar Borno Primary School, on Tuesday, a senior programme officer of CITAD, Mallam Isa Garba, said the training aims to imbue the teachers with skills that would enable them to scale up productivity and quality delivery of instruction in Bauchi State public schools.
Isa Garba affirmed that only quality education guarantees a better future for the next generation.
According to him, education is the solution to some of the challenges in the country and, therefore, what will upscale its quality must be encouraged.
He insisted that the nation’s social challenges, including terrorism and banditry, can best be remedied through the classroom by shaping the learners' characters and imparting the right knowledge so that the children can become useful to themselves and the country at large.
The programme officer maintained that improving the standard of education in the country is the responsibility of everyone, hence the need to embrace ICT from basic education to improve the quality of teaching.
On his part, the state CITAD programme officer, Mujahid Ibrahim, noted that they have introduced ICT training for kids aimed at catching them young and realized the importance of extending the same to teachers for its future sustenance.
In his remarks on the activities of the Centre for Information Technology and Development, the Bauchi Local Government Education Secretary, Nuru Abdullahi, sought the sustenance of the partnership and commended CITAD's deep passion and professionalism in executing its task of providing ICT knowledge to the public, particularly teachers of SUBEB in the state.
Some of the participants who spoke expressed appreciation to the organizers of the ICT training and assured their readiness to pass on the knowledge gained to achieve the set goals.
