Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has stated that the prestigious Public Service Award on Agriculture and Food Security, presented to him at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS), serves as a motivation to further his efforts.

Governor Bago made this statement at the award presentation organized by The Best Strategic (TBS) Media in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The event was held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

He attributed the award to his administration's deliberate efforts to transform agriculture in Niger State. Governor Bago emphasized that the award is for the benefit of the people of Niger, and he is committed to achieving his vision for the state.

Describing his agricultural revolution as comprehensive, Governor Bago detailed plans for storage facilities to prevent post-harvest losses. He mentioned that approximately a million tons of renewable energy storage facilities would be provided across the state, in addition to the 500 40-ft containers that the Dangote Group would supply for farm estates in the state.

In the area of infrastructure, particularly roads, Governor Bago highlighted that his administration has embarked on approximately 1,000 km of road projects across the state, calling this endeavor unprecedented.

During the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shetima, urged public servants to meet expectations and be guided by the principle that public institutions are not personal enterprises. The President reiterated his commitment to creating an environment where merit is rewarded and every public servant is motivated to give their best.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, explained that the award was intended to recognize and reward innovation, purposeful leadership, and hard work among exceptional individuals and organizations in both the government and private sectors. He emphasized that the selection process for awardees was based on verifiable facts and figures.

Government officials, state and federal lawmakers, family members, the Minister of State for Agriculture, and other well-wishers, while speaking to journalists, described Governor Bago's award as well-deserved. They noted that it reflects his good policies, hard work, and commitment to his agricultural revolution aimed at ensuring food security. They also pledged their continued support for the success of his administration.

Additionally, Senator Sani Musa, representing Niger East Senatorial District, received an award for Constituency Empowerment.

In total, 42 personalities received awards in various categories.

The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, and the Etsu Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, were among the eminent personalities who attended the event.
