The Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated the newly elected National President of the union, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, who emerged victorious at the just-concluded 8th Triennial National Delegates Conference, held at Owerri, Imo state.

The State Council in a statement jointly signed by the chairman Comrade Umar Sa'idu and the Secretary Isah Garba Gadau respectively yesterday and made available to journalists in Bauchi.

The statement said the state council had anticipated the victory of Alhassan/Abimbola long before the election date, knowing their competency, popularity and wide acceptance by members across the 36 councils and FCT.

The state council used the media to call on the new president to deploy his God-given talent in the discharge of his assigned responsibilities for the continuous growth and development of the NUJ.

The council equally congratulated the Deputy National President, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde and all other elected officials especially the election of Abubakar Musa Waziri from the Bauchi state as the Zonal Secretary in-charge of Zone E for the well-deserved victory.

It also expressed optimism in the capacity of the new president and his team.

The Bauchi Council also commended the immediate past National President, Chief Chris Isiguzo for providing a level playing ground for all the candidates as well as the achievements the union recorded under his watch.

"We prayed for the new leadership to consolidate on the achievements of the past leaders, to place NUJ in a better position," the statement concluded.
