The National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has honored 18 of its staff members with Merit and Productivity Awards for their dedication, commitment, and hard work.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Justice Legbo Kutigi Hall in Minna, marking the conclusion of the commission's 2024 activities.

Speaking at the event, N-HYPPADEC Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa (Katukan Yauri), reaffirmed the commission's commitment to prioritizing staff welfare. He expressed gratitude for the collective support of the staff, which he said has been instrumental in the success of the commission.

Sadiq-Yelwa encouraged staff to continue demonstrating punctuality, discipline, transparency, and accountability in their duties. He acknowledged the challenges faced during the commission’s early days and commended the management committee for their resilience and dedication.

“The entire workforce deserves commendation as we prepare for future mandates,” he stated.

Representing the Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, the Permanent Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Idris Legbo, praised N-HYPPADEC for its impactful achievements since its inception.

He highlighted that Niger State alone had benefited from over 200 interventions and urged the commission to do even more in the future.

Earlier, N-HYPPADEC Director of Finance and Administration, Jimoh Haruna-Gabi, lauded the Managing Director’s leadership style, describing him as a “Pathfinder” for his transparency and accountability.

Awards were presented in various categories, including Best Staff, Best Driver, and Best State Coordinator. Notably, the Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Yelwa, received the Most Distinguished Award.

Some of the award recipients, such as Rahmat Maijabi and Hassan Maji, expressed their gratitude to the management committee for recognizing their efforts. They pledged to continue working diligently, noting that the awards served as motivation to strive for even greater achievements.

The event underscored N-HYPPADEC's commitment to excellence and its recognition of employees who go above and beyond in their service.
