In a gesture of inclusivity and goodwill during the festive season, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has donated 1,100 bags of rice to Army and Police widows, the Correctional Service, and the Igbo community in the state.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi by Hon. Shafiu Zauro, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Chairman of the five-member committee overseeing the distribution.
According to Hon. Zauro, 300 bags of rice each were allocated to Army and Police widows, another 300 bags to the Igbo community, and 200 bags to the Correctional Service for distribution among inmates.
To ensure transparency and accountability, Governor Idris established a five-member committee chaired by Hon. Zauro, with Alhaji Nasir Kigo, Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Office, serving as Secretary.
Hon. Zauro praised Governor Idris for his compassionate gesture, describing it as a heartwarming effort to spread joy among the beneficiaries during Christmas.
Hajiya Asmau, leader of the Army widows, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor for his fatherly care, noting that the donation had brightened their Christmas celebrations.
Similarly, representatives of the Igbo community lauded the governor’s generosity and pledged their continued support and prayers for the success of his administration.
