The Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board has announced a significant renovation project aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the state.
Dr. Husaini Yakubu, the Executive Secretary of the board, revealed on Tuesday that 144 primary health centers (PHCs) will be renovated as part of the initiative.
In a statement signed by Suleiman Isah, ANIPR, Information Officer for the Ministry of Health, Yakubu explained that his recent visit to the PHC in Yandoton Daji, Tsafe Local Government Area, was to assess the facility's needs, including renovations, equipment upgrades, and potential expansions.
“The renovation effort will be a collaborative undertaking,” Yakubu stated. “The IMPACT Project will renovate 62 health facilities, the Zamfara State Primary Health Care Board (ZSPHCB) will handle renovations for four facilities, the Constituency Project will oversee the renovation of 18 facilities, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) will renovate 11 facilities.”
Yakubu also underscored the critical role of healthcare workers in the success of the project and issued a stern warning against absenteeism.
“If you cannot comply, please resign, as many people are eager to join the civil service,” he said. “Henceforth, any officer found to be negligent will face disciplinary action.”
The executive secretary expressed his gratitude to Governor Dauda Lawal for supporting the state’s health sector and commended the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, for her exemplary leadership.
