Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has addressed the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Kebbi.

He made this statement on Tuesday during an inspection tour of the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway project in Kebbi State. The tour was led by the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, alongside the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu, and the Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Goronyo, among others.

"In Kebbi State, we don't take Mr. President for granted. His administration has accomplished so much for us—things we have never witnessed before," Gov. Idris said. "It is important to show our appreciation through the Honourable Minister of Works. The yearnings and aspirations of our people have already been addressed by Mr. President."

The governor emphasized that leadership is about bringing development to the people, adding that President Tinubu has delivered numerous projects that have transformed Kebbi State. He assured that the people of Kebbi would continue to support the president, stating, "By God's grace, Kebbi State will stand with him come 2027."

Gov. Idris also pledged that his administration would create an enabling environment for HITECH, the company handling the project, to ensure its successful execution. He expressed his delight that, after breaking fast with President Tinubu on Monday, the president personally assured him that the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway was a priority project that would be completed.

Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, reaffirmed that President Tinubu's legacy projects span all six geopolitical zones of the country. He commended Gov. Idris for his unwavering commitment to the success of the project and his loyalty to the president’s programs.

"I must appreciate you—you are doing a fantastic job. Most importantly, your respect and honor for past governors is commendable. God will also honor you in the same way," Umahi said. "Whoever succeeds you after eight years will also respect and honor you, and I want to assure you that Mr. President's heart is in this place."

The minister expressed confidence in HITECH's capacity to deliver the project, citing the high-quality equipment the company had mobilized to the sites. He also noted that the administration had inherited significant infrastructure projects, including the 350-kilometer Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road. He highlighted that an additional 240 kilometers (×2) had been added, bringing the total to 480 kilometers, with President Tinubu approving the release of 30% of the contract sum for sections one and three of the project.

Umahi further revealed that the president had also approved funding for key projects, including the Second Niger Bridge (sections 2A and 2B in Anambra and Delta states) and the Lagos-Ibadan expressway (section 2, phase 2), with 30% of the contract sum already allocated.

Sen. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu acknowledged that President Tinubu inherited several uncompleted projects but assured that none would be abandoned. He praised the president’s innovative approach to infrastructure financing, stating that the world no longer relies solely on government funding.

"Being someone who has built relationships both within Nigeria and internationally, President Tinubu was quick to find partners willing to invest in these projects," Atiku-Bagudu said. "HITECH is not just a construction company; it is also playing a key role in innovative financing that has enabled us to kick-start this transformative project, along with the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway."

HITECH’s Managing Director, Dany Abboud, assured stakeholders that the company was fully committed to delivering a high-quality project within the stipulated timeframe.
