The West African Youth Congress (WAYC) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for its relentless efforts in combating terrorism, leading to a historic decline in terrorist activities over the past decade.
In a press statement signed by Ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Marafa, Secretary-General and Head of Mission of WAYC, the organization credited Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to tackling the country’s security challenges for this achievement.
The statement highlighted the strategic role of National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, whose leadership has enhanced coordination among security agencies, fostering unprecedented synergy and intelligence-sharing crucial to dismantling terrorist networks. It further noted that Ribadu’s methodical approach, backed by his extensive experience in law enforcement, has revitalized counterterrorism operations and established a comprehensive framework addressing both immediate threats and the root causes of insecurity.
WAYC also extended its commendation to the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the entire military for their patriotism, dedication, and commitment to protecting the nation.
Recognizing that insecurity remains a major obstacle to development and disproportionately affects young people, WAYC expressed gratitude to the men and women in uniform for their sacrifices in safeguarding the country. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, security, and development across West Africa.
