Bauchi State Commissioner of Lands and Survey, TPL Abdullahi Mohammed has stressed the need for every critical stakeholder to contribute constructively to the establishment of the Bauchi New City demarcated along Ningi road in the Bauchi metropolitan area of the state.
Alh. Abdullahi Mohammed who was speaking on Monday during public presentation and hearing on the concepts plans for Bauchi New Town Project for inputs from critical stakeholders.
He revealed that the Bauchi New Town has about 1, 200 hectres of land, which consultants have done the surveying, planning, engineering drawings and electricals, among others.
"So in his own vision, His Excellency, the Executive Governor decided to put up an anticipatory particular new town project. We believe each and every one of us here can contribute constructively, so I want present prototype of the Bauchi new city situated along Ningi road", the commissioner said.
"The plannings have been done and they are in the process of planning the area, and they want to present to the general public, that is the state of professionals alikes in building the environment, the academia in our institutions, the associations of various poverty owners, property developers, all sorts of people are key stakeholders to this particular aspect and that's why we are here to present today", he said.
The commissioner therefore requested inputs from all the stakeholders to be refered to the general public for their partaking, stressing that "Is no more a question of top to bottom, it is about bottom to top. And this is what we are asked to do, as I look forward to very constructive contributions from all of you".
He expressed the believe that they are capable of doing that and put up their final draft on what could be done for final presentation to the state government, adding 'We believe each and every one of us here can contribute constructively, so I want present prototype of the Bauchi new city for consideration".
For his part, the General Manager of the Bauchi state Phycial Planning and Development Control Board, TPI Ibrahim Muhammad stressed the need to reach out to the people and explained the mission of the new vision to them while earning their to becoming an accountable government
Alh. Ibrahim Muhammad who is also a Town Planning Inspector, said that the second aspect of the new vision is the improvement of lives of the citizens of Bauchi state, which requires looking at education, health, security of lives, economic issues, as we as the quality of the environment.
He further explained the occasion is to make presentation of His Excellency's vision by envisaging considering the influx of people into Bauchi as a result of communal clashes in the neighbouring states or communities experienced in the last few years.
According to him, the successful implementation of the vision requires unbundling of the state resources in terms of agriculture, mineral resources and other things, how to accommodate the anticipatory response of the nation and world at large for which the state government looks for direct investment.
