On Saturday, April 19, 2025, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar (Mai Daura), conferred the prestigious traditional title of Sadaukin Kasar Hausa on Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari, Wamban Faskari and Commissioner for Environment in Katsina State.
The turbaning ceremony took place at the Emir’s palace in Daura, Katsina State, and was marked by grandeur, cultural pride, and celebration. The Emir noted that Hon. Faskari was chosen for the honor in recognition of his deep love for the people and his steadfast commitment to national service.
The event attracted a large and distinguished crowd from within and beyond Katsina State. In attendance were the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, and the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, along with their deputies. Several senators, members of the national and state assemblies, commissioners, business leaders, and influential politicians were also present to witness the historic occasion.
Among the notable guests were Engr. Aminu Barau Mairua, Senior Special Assistant on Community Development Projects; Hon. Jamilu Muhammad (Lion); Malam Sirajo Aliyu Daudawa, Chairman of Faskari Local Government Area; and Engr. Samaila Ma’azu Bawa, member of the Katsina State House of Assembly. Others included Alhaji Abdulbasiru Sha’aibu Ruwan Godiya, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Faskari Local Government Area; Engr. Murtala Ibrahim Sheme; Alhaji Abubakar Dahiru Faskari, Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Yankara; and Sheikh M. Ibrahim Musa Faskari, Chief Imam of the JIBWIS Jumu’at Mosque in Faskari. Chairmen of local governments from Kankara, Funtua, Musawa, and Katsina were also in attendance.
The occasion was filled with joy and lasted for over three days, with traditional performances and various festivities that reflected the rich cultural heritage of the region. It was a momentous celebration that brought together people from all walks of life.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari expressed profound gratitude to the Emir and all attendees. He prayed for continued unity, peace, and stronger ties among the people of the Hausa land and beyond.
