The Kebbi State Government has commenced the training and selection process for 70 students of Kebbi origin to pursue degree programs in various fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The initiative is part of the “Kaura Capacity Building Project 2025,” spearheaded by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imran bn Usman.

Speaking at a press conference in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Engr. Imran bn Usman said the selection is being conducted across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state, with each allocated three slots. Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, received 10 slots—bringing the total to 70 beneficiaries.

Imran explained that only students under the age of 18 would be eligible, and all applicants must pass an academic screening process to meet the admission criteria set by Saudi institutions.

He disclosed that a delegation from Saudi Arabia had already arrived in Kebbi and begun screening the candidates.

“Successful candidates will soon depart for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to pursue their studies in various disciplines,” he said.

The fields of study available to the selected students include medicine, engineering, sciences, and other humanitarian courses.

“His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, is deeply committed to promoting piety, religious values, and good governance. He has directed me to engage embassies of Middle Eastern countries in Abuja to explore more opportunities for human capital development,” Imran added.

The Special Adviser praised Governor Idris for his unwavering support in empowering the youth through education and for his efforts to revitalize the state’s education sector.

He encouraged the students to dedicate themselves to their studies and strive for excellence, urging them to make Kebbi State—and Nigeria at large—proud.
