Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, have been honoured with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Good Governance Awards for their outstanding contributions to public service.

Governor Idris received the "Good Governance Award on Education," while Senator Akpabio was presented with the "Good Governance Award on Legislative Transformation and Efficiency" during the NUJ Press Freedom and Good Governance Awards 2025 held at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja.

The ceremony recognized distinguished Nigerians for their exceptional achievements in various areas of governance.

Governor Idris was represented by the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK; his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Ahmed Idris; and the NUJ Vice President (North West Zone), Alhaji Tukur Dutsinmari.

In his remarks while receiving the award on behalf of Governor Idris (also known as Kauran Gwandu), Commissioner Ahmed-BK praised the governor’s exemplary leadership, particularly in the education sector.

He highlighted the governor's recent recruitment of 2,000 teachers as part of efforts to revamp education in Kebbi State. He also disclosed that the administration had invested over N8.9 billion in the construction and renovation of 120 secondary schools across the state.

NUJ President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, said the awardees were carefully selected based on their exceptional performance and leadership qualities.

Other notable recipients included Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, who received the "Good Governance Award on Peace Building and Development," among several other distinguished personalities.
