A civic group, the Bauchi People’s Advocate for Good Governance, has strongly refuted allegations made by Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin, a dismissed staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), against retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed Abdulrahman.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Aliyu Musa, the group described Jibrin’s claims as “baseless, malicious, and fabricated,” alleging that they were part of a desperate attempt to smear the reputation of a respected Islamic scholar, former law enforcement officer, and philanthropist.

The group stated that Jibrin's accusations of abuse of office were false and misleading, stressing that AIG Abdulrahman never investigated the Governor of Bauchi State. They labelled the claims as “ludicrous” and “cooked-up narratives” designed to deceive the public.

Contrary to Jibrin’s assertion of a 17 to 20-year working relationship with AIG Abdulrahman, the group clarified that records show his employment lasted only two years. During that time, they said, Jibrin enjoyed the mentorship and financial generosity of the AIG.

The group also revealed that Jibrin was dismissed from the EFCC after being found guilty of extorting money and a vehicle from victims of financial crimes. It said the internal investigation that led to his dismissal was initiated by AIG Abdulrahman himself—demonstrating his commitment to integrity.

Commenting on Jibrin’s claims of undergoing FBI training and elite courses, the group described them as “fraudulent,” saying such claims are consistent with his history of dishonesty and render him unfit for public trust.

The group also pointed out specific instances of AIG Abdulrahman’s benevolence toward Jibrin, including two separate ₦200,000 cash supports to aid his relocation to Bauchi and funding a pharmacy business—efforts they said Jibrin squandered on personal indulgence.

“Instead of showing gratitude, he has shamelessly chosen to bite the hand that fed him,” the statement read, accusing Jibrin of weaponizing his past relationship with AIG Abdulrahman for extortion and defamation.

The group challenged Jibrin to substantiate his allegations by presenting credible evidence such as an EFCC appointment letter, FBI training certificates, and corroborating witnesses or documents. Until then, it said, his claims remain nothing more than “reckless fiction.”

Legal action, the group announced, has already commenced against Jibrin for criminal defamation, fraudulent misrepresentation, and attempted extortion. It vowed to pursue justice to its logical conclusion.

They urged both the media and the public to disregard what they described as “falsehoods fueled by envy, greed, and a pathological thirst for relevance.” The group called on the people of Bauchi and all Nigerians to stand against such malicious character attacks.

The Bauchi People’s Advocate for Good Governance reaffirmed its unwavering support for AIG Abdulrahman’s legacy of integrity, service, and scholarship, insisting that his record remains untarnished. It also reiterated its commitment to upholding good governance and holding individuals accountable for dishonest conduct.
